We are honoured to be contributing to the Donate A Meal campaign!
Throughout November, restaurants across Hong Kong are inviting customers to add a small donation of HKD15 to their bill. (HKD15 will provide up to 3 nutritious meals for a vulnerable person.)
Restaurants are uniting to raise money to provide emergency food, shelter and support for people in Hong Kong who are affected because of loss of income and jobs, as a result of the pandemic.
The donations will be shared equally between charities operating on the frontline: Impact HK, Christian Action and Feeding Hong Kong.
Find out which restaurants are participating at the official website of Donate A Meal.

A Word From the Charities Supporting Donate A Meal
“The pandemic has had a significant effect on many households in Hong Kong who were already vulnerable, not only as a result of job losses and reduced income, but also as we see an increase in food prices,” explains Gabrielle Kirstein, founder of food bank Feeding Hong Kong. “For every HKD5 we can support one meal for a person in need. Since February, we have supported over 2 million meals and the Donate-a-Meal contributions will help us continue that momentum for the remainder of the year and into 2021.”
Jeff Rotmeyer, founder of Impact HK which provides food and shelter to the homeless, adds, “During the past few months we have seen an alarming number of new individuals living homeless in Hong Kong. We are out every night helping as many as we can, showing them care and hopefully earning their trust. We have over 150 individuals in shelter right now for whom we provide holistic support. The funds raised through the Donate-a-Meal campaign will help to us to continue serving roughly 12,000 meals per month.”
Cheung-Ang Siew Mei, executive director at Christian Action, explains, “Christian Action has opened an emergency food station in Yau Tsim Mong, known for having the highest number of sub-divided flats and a hotspot for deprived groups. We are committed to serving at least 1000 vulnerable individuals in the Yau Tsim Mong area with free meals and basic food. Your support will help to achieve our goal of providing a lifeline to the vulnerable.”
